Now that school has started, it seems like it's all hustle and bustle. That's why it can be so important to think about why we do what we do. What are our hopes and dreams for our kids, and also, what are our hopes and dreams for parenthood? Why do we what we do?
Tracy Grant has a nice piece in the Washington Post that talks about the five percent of the time during parenting that is what it's all about -- those moments of connection with our kids. It builds memories for them, yes. But it strengthens our sense of purpose and commitment and is really the reward we get in a role that can feel thankless. When we're in the moment, we need to allow ourselves to be in this space and time that is what parenting can really be about.
It doesn't have to be an event. The moment can be around the dinner table, or watching a family movie on TV. The moments come, though when we are with our kids completely, not just physically.
